Urgent Help/Advice Please?

Postby Immortal Singh » Wed Jan 06, 2010 8:38 pm

We were looking to buy a free-weight bench and olympic barbell for our Gurdwara gym, found this one on ebay....

will someone please advise us on...

1) How much should we pay for it (we don't want to waste sangats money!)

2) The seller is not offering any viewings (we can't visually check its condition)

Thanks in advance

Gufateh!

It is difficult to advise on such a decision because what you see is what we see.

However, some things to take into consideration are:
- If the material of the bench has no rips/tears then the rest of the metal equipment should be sturdy
- It does not look as if the barbell is bent, as the weight is not enough to bend it (one would need over 500kg to bend an olympic bar)
- The metal weights are unlikely to be damaged as due to being strong sturdy material

You need to think about what you are buying. It looks like a sturdy piece of metal which is not likely to be damaged. Due to the weight (125kg) available. Therefore, it comes down to are you happy with the condition of the material on the bench.

However! You may want to examine the pins, and holes, and the bar that is adjustable. The key question is DOES IT WORK. Ie. does it adjust as advertised or is something damaged that prevents it from being adjusted, or prevents it from being sturdy. Email the seller these questions, or get them to prove it with photos that it can be adjusted and that you are happy there is no significant damage.
