Ideal shoes for weight training

Postby hsingh » Fri Jun 12, 2009 6:11 pm

What kind of footwear is ideal for weight training? I have read that squats should be done bare feet! Personally, I do not like any shoes with a lot of padding. About a month ago I bought a Mizuno running shoe and I really like it. But a running shoe is a running shoe not a weight training shoe. Currently, I am looking for walking shoes as well. Would it be okay to use walking shoes for weight training?

In the weight lifting world they have already created Squat shoes for squatting, and powerlifting shoes for powerlifting.

Apart from the Squat and Deadlifts, one can get away with most shoes.

Bare feet is a smart idea.
