Better fat loss with more fibre

An extensive review of the literature on fat loss by Drs. Yao and Roberts of Tufts University showed that people on high-fiber/low-fat diets lost three times as much weight as people who only ate a low-fat diet.

Twenty-five well designed research studies have demonstrated that the simple strategy of adding more fiber to the diet produces an effective reduction in body fat. The trouble is that fatty foods tastes good and fiber doesn't and people always eat more of what tastes good!

Not many Americans meet the recommended daily allowance for fiber let alone consume a high-fiber diet. This paper provided several tips to help boost the fiber in your daily diet.

* Eat foods with high water content such as fruits and vegetables.
* Include several servings of foods containing whole grains.
* Choose low fat foods with xanthan gum in them.
* Use low calorie flavorings such as balsamic vinegar, ginger, chili, lemons and limes to spice up your salads and vegetables - when you make them taste good, you'll eat more of 'em!

The low-carb diet is out, the next new diet craze will be high fiber diets and an increased consumption of fiber-enriched foods according to a survey carried out by the Naples, New York database company Productscan Online. Bodybuilders that consume a high fiber intake from vegetables experience dramatic body composition changes during a dieting phase.

A high intake of vegetables (high in naturally occurring fiber) is the real secret to an ultra lean, healthy body. Best of all, a high vegetable intake enables your supplements to exert their potent effects on muscle. Unfortunately most bodybuilders don’t eat vegetables. The reason why vegetables are so effective for fat loss is that they provide “bulk” to the diet but add very few calories. This “tricks” the metabolism into staying elevated during calorie restriction because of the large volume of food the body has to process.

Vegetables increase satiety and they keep blood sugar concentrations steady so that the muscle building, fat burning process isn’t interrupted. Therefore a high intake of vegetables is essential to achieve a low body fat percentage as well as building lean muscle mass. All vegetables are nutrient dense, yet sparse in calorie content, so make sure you select from a variety.
