Electro Myo Stimulation

Electromystimulation involves using electrodes and electrical current to stimulate muscle contraction. In a report published in the Canadian Journal of Applied Physiology (23:261-270,1998) Electromyostimulation has no carry over benefits to building muscle and conventional weight training as it does nothing for voluntary muscle stimulation (contraction). This is where you have to make that muscle contract.

While electromyostimulation did increase the contractional force of some fibers when electrically stimulated, it does not cause all muscle fibers to contract and this type of contraction had no carry over benefits to making muscles work in a functional capacity.

Electromyostimulation does have its place for rehabilitation of soft tissue injuries where normal muscle function is limited. But there is no "free lunch". You can't plug in muscle growth, and steer clear of the Boris Badenoff's that tell you that you can. Keep bustin' your **** with intense, intelligently planned workouts.
