Cardio Tips

Perform short, sharp sessions of 15 to 25 minutes. Two shorter sessions a day will burn more calories than one longer aerobic session.

* Utilizie a different exercise each session, every day and never perform the same aerobic activity too often.

* Select the exercises that make you carry or move your body mass the entire session. Forget about stationary bikes and leaning all over stair machines, these activities are next to useless. However, using a treadmill, cross country skier, rowing machine and circuit training is a much better choice.

* Perform outdoor activities where possible. Working outside you can not manipulate variables to suit your self.

* Once a basic fitness level is established, start to incorporate intervals or "bursts" of increased intensity during your session. Continue to alter the speed, frequency and length of these intervals as the weeks progress so that you never perform the same workout twice.

* Always attempt to improve your fitness, you'll burn more calories.

* To keep motivation high, perform a monthly "time trial" on a particular exercise. Compete against no one but yourself and record how far you can run, row, climb or swim in a 25 minute period. Then use your increased fitness level to better this each month.

* Warm up for 5 minutes with lower intensity exercise and stretching. Also stretch again after the session. This time does not include your specified workout duration. Always make time for a warm up and stretching. If you do not have enough time to do these, then you do not have enough time to train
